Another air tragedy was averted Sunday after an MI-17 helicopter narrowly avoided a major accident in Ridikot of remote Humla district. Two passengers and four crew members in the helicopter belonging to Manang Air are said to be have escaped without any major injuries and are now safe.
However, the extent of their injuries was immediately not known. Reports quoted Manang Airways officials as saying that the helicopter which was flying to Humla from Surkhet with food materials suffered technical glitches while landing, due to which it met with a minor accident. The helicopter is said to have suffered some damages.
However, the reasons behind the technical failure has not been known. About two weeks ago, a domestic aircraft met with a minor crash in Syangboche of Solukhombhu district while attempting take off. There were no casualties in the incident.
